Red Creek, Cayo – May 2025 – Belize is gearing up to host the 2025 installment of Copa Los Volcanes at the Roaring River Golf Course. Starting June 18 and ending June 22, 2025, the tournament will feature golf players from Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
First staged in Costa Rica in June 2018, the event is designed to boost and promote the sport of golf across the region, and over the past seven years, it has developed into one of the most important events for elite amateur golfers throughout the Central American isthmus. During the course of five days, players, who will be in teams, will vie for the top honors in the amateur tournament played over 72 holes, which is a four-ball and singles stroke play.
“We expect a high level of competition”, says Saul Barrera, President of the Belize Golf Association (BGA). “Players from across the region as well as our local players will compete in a fiercely competitive five-day tournament, and I am sure the excitement will be great!”, he added. Event host, Pedro Lizarraga, also said, “Copa Los Volcanes not only raises the bar for golf in Belize and the rest of the region, it opens the doors for athletes from all walks of life to participate in something fun, fulfilling, and exciting. We at Roaring River welcome everyone to witness this spectacular event.”
